ABOUT DXP

DXP was opened in 2002 by Renae Cosgrove, Tara (Cosgrove) Schooley, and Brittany Cosgrove.  We are excited to be in our 9th year and are looking forward to #10 next year!!  Wow how time has flown by!  Our goal each year is to improve students' technique, performance skills, confidence, social skills, discipline, and to have FUN!

CLASSES BEGIN:  TUES, SEPTEMBER 7TH

MEET THE FACULTY

TaraPicTara Schooley
Tara has been dancing since the age of 4 and has been trained in many styles of dance at different studios and conventions.  Tara does all of the class plans and choreography with the help of her sister, Brittany.  During the day you can find her updating the website and getting notes and e-mails together.  Her favorite part of teaching is interacting with the students and being able to help them grow as dancers, and as people, each year.  Tara lives in Chariton, IA with her husband, Ben, and their dog, Nola.  Ben is an 8th grade social studies teacher and coach.  They are very excited about the arrival of baby Schooley in January!  Classes will go on as scheduled with Renae, Brittany, or Ashton helping with Tara’s classes during that time.  For those of you that know Tara, she won’t be away from the studio for very long!  :)

Renae Cosgrove
Renae began dancing in her mid-childhood through high school.  Renae taught classes when DXP first opened, but now focuses on the front end of the studio:  ordering, bookwork, and helping parents in the waiting room.  If you have any questions about notes on the wall, would like to order something, or are dropping off payment, please see Renae. J  She continues to help teach the tumbling and technique classes and tries to get in to supervise a few minutes of every class each week.  Renae lives in Centerville and has been married for 26 years to her husband, Doug.  Doug manages the Fareway in Centerville.  They added a new addition to the family after Christmas last year, a puppy named Dilly.

Brittany Cosgrove
Brittany has been dancing since the age of 3, following in her sister’s footsteps.  She enjoys many styles of dance, her specialties being hip hop and lyrical.  Brittany was a head instructor and choreographer until she moved to Chicago to attend college in 2006.  She has continued to contribute choreography and artistic ideas to DXP.  She edits all music and designs backdrops and props for recital.  Brittany trained at Hubbard Street-Lou Conte Dance Studio and Visceral Dance Chicago while in Chicago.  She was also a member and choreographer of the Hip Hop ConnXion Chicago dance company.  She graduated in May from Columbia College and is looking forward to a career in fashion.

Ashton Thomas
Ashton Thomas took classes for five years at DXP and participated on the competition team for three years.  She is taking classes at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville.  Ashton will be helping with tumbling and technique this year, along with instructing the first half of most classes.  Ashton is great with kids and we are so happy to have her join the DXP family as an instructor!

*All choreography will be done by Tara & Brittany.  Ashton will be instructing the first half of most classes which will consist of warm ups, center floor work, and across the floor combinations.  Tara will prepare the class plans for all classes and will instruct the 2nd half of most classes to work on combinations, technique, and choreography for DXP's spring recital!

Student helpers will assist instructors with larger class sizes.  Helpers are in charge of:  bathroom duty, warm ups, getting kids in lines, and going around to give individual attention to those that may be having trouble with certain steps or combinations.
